April Fools: The Republican Party

You'd think the GOP would take advantage of the occasion to throw the media a curve of some kind, just so the Congressional leadership could yell, "Psych!" and thus make fun of the media. But I fear the Republicans have little of that kind of humor in them. Today they introduced an alternative economic plan, and guess what? It calls for lower taxes and less government spending. You'd almost think it was a gag, and that the leaders would finally assure an appalled public that they didn't actually mean to perpetuate their tired old dogmas. But they were in deadly earnest, as usual. All this proves is that, despite the timing of their announcement, the Republicans are fools twelve months a year.
