Republicans: "Stop Picking on that Old Guy!"

Have you ever lost your bearings? If so, then you're old. That's what some Republicans seem to think, as far as I can tell from the hysterical response to a really rather generic criticism of Senator McCain by Senator Obama. The funny thing about this episode is the fact that, if you agree with me that "losing his bearings" isn't meant to bring up McCain's age, the only people who wanted to make age an issue today were in the McCain campaign. They just gave the entire news media license to remind the public that the Republican will turn 72 later this year, and would be the oldest president every inaugurated if he wins. Nice work, team! McCain himself, fresh from his latest visit to John Stewart, has got to be wondering who exactly had the senior moment today.
