Bertolt Brecht on Immigration

"The people have lost the confidence of the government; the government has decided to dissolve the people, and to appoint another one."

The German playwright actually said that about the Communist government of East Germany following an uprising in 1953. For some reason, however, the quote keeps popping into my head as I discuss the topic of illegal immigration with certain liberals at DailyKos and elsewhere. I wonder why that is ...

That sounds more like something you'd hear from Groucho Marx! Or, in this generation, Stephen Colbert.

With so many "undocumented" people in this country, don't you think it's time the INS opened branch offices in San Francisco, New York, Dallas.......
