We Won't Have Sarah Palin to Kick Around Anymore?

If you believe this report of her sudden resignation, Governor Palin is "out of politics for good" once she leaves office ahead of schedule. She claims in her royal manner that "we" can do more outside of government to change the system, and while some cynics suggest that she's quitting to escape legal troubles, I suspect a more mercenary motive. Her most likely future, as I see it, is as a telegenic scourge of the liberal media that so slandered her family. Her most likely future home is on Fox News, which is probably where someone of her background belonged all along. If the report is wrong and the resignation is meant to facilitate fundraising and politicking for 2012, then it's the biggest mistake she could ever make. Who wants a President who's a quitter, after all?

When you've been parodied to death not only on Saturday Night Live, but in pro wrestling, where they had a lady wrestler dressed up to look like Ms. Palin for several months after the election had come and gone, it gets to the point where the parodies have diminished her accomplishments in office. Heck, a newspaper headline the other day used the phrase, "You betcha!", attributed more to the parodies moreso than to Ms. Palin herself.

As Kenny Rogers sang nearly 30 years ago, you've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, and know when to run. Sarah Palin is walking away. But not for good.

And as for a President who was a quitter? Uh, you do remember, Sammy, that Nixon resigned before he could be impeached 35 years ago, right?

Would you have voted for Nixon after he resigned? Well, then...

Only for President of the Prisoners' Union at San Quentin.

Maybe she's decided to join the pro-secessionists. Maybe her hubby finally grew a pair and decided he's the King of the domicile, so she needs to be more submissive. I suspect you're on the right track though. It wouldn't surprise me if she ended up with a talk show on Fox. It also wouldn't surprise me if it was cancelled after one season.
