Funny thing was the rebs at first (i.e. in 1865) were more afraid of Johnson because he, as a poor white who remained loyal to the Union seemed to hate the upper-class Confederates. Of course he could have treated blacks like crap and still hung the rebel leaders, but I suspect he enjoyed the idea that they owed their lives to his humble self.Samuel Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00934870299522899944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8820814198873126054.post-38292933329078998582015-06-24T04:01:54.749-04:002015-06-24T04:01:54.749-04:00That's probably because Lincoln was a bit of a...That's probably because Lincoln was a bit of a racist. Not a one was even tried for treason, I believe, while the only Reb to be hanged postwar was the commandant of Andersoville for war crimes.Samuel Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00934870299522899944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8820814198873126054.post-11191267453767407202015-06-23T20:56:58.682-04:002015-06-23T20:56:58.682-04:00Anyone who flies that flag should be considered a ...Anyone who flies that flag should be considered a traitor. The confederates were traitors, and anyone who holds to their mentality is a traitor. Perhaps what we need is a constitutional amendment making it illegal to fly any national flag on US soil, except for the accepted American flag. (U.N. and foreign embassies being excluded.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
